Over the last few years there has been a rise in the number of phishing (scam) emails and texts that many of us have been receiving, however many of us may not be aware that there are places that we can report these messages to so that they can be investigated further. These include the company concerned, the mobile phone provider and the UK’s National Cyber Security team.
To help you with where to report the messages to here’s our simple guide for you to follow:
General
- Emails should be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk. More information about the how to report emails can be found here.
- Text messages should be forwarded to 7726 so your mobile phone provider can investigate. It is free to forward the message and you should include the phone number that the message came from and the company name it you have it.
Amazon
- Emails should be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk and forwarded to stop-spoofing@amazon.com.
Apple
- Emails should be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk and forwarded to reportphishing@apple.com.
EE
- Emails should be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk and forwarded to phishing@ee.co.uk.
HMRC
- Emails should be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk and phishing@hmrc.gov.uk.
- Texts should be forwarded to 7726 and 60599.
PayPal
- Emails should be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk and spoof@paypal.com.
