Period Power Website

, ,

We worked with Linda, Verity and Sue from Period Power to redesign the charity’s website. They wanted a website that clearly showed the work they do, made it easy for people to donate or get help and avoided long blocks of text. We focused on creating a layout that was simple to navigate and easy to read.

To support this we introduced clear sections with different backgrounds and images to break up content and guide visitors to the information they need. Almost all imagery used throughout the website reflects the work of the charity. The only exceptions are the background images used on the main pages.

When it came to the functionality of the website we worked together to create a clear list of the key pages the website should include. These were a home page, about page, partner with us, fundraising, what others say, a news and updates page and contact us. This gave the charity a structure that was easy to manage and simple for visitors to navigate.

For the news and updates page we decided that a social media feed would work best. Period Power regularly posts updates on Facebook so using this feed on the website means they do not need to add the same information twice. It keeps the website current without adding extra work for the charity.

Another important aspect was ensuring that both the donation button and the get help button were prominent throughout the website. These actions are central to the charity’s work so they needed to be easy to find on every page.

We also reviewed their hosting setup and helped them move to 34sp.com who provide free website hosting for charities and a lower annual cost for domain name registration. This reduced ongoing costs for Period Power and the charity is now listed on the 34sp.com website as one of the organisations using their hosting which provides a valuable backlink to the charity website.

The end result of the redesign is that the charity now has a website that clearly showcases the impact of their work, is more memorable than their previous website and works well on all devices.

We continue to support Period Power with any updates they wish to make to the website.

We have been working with Lucy for a few weeks now to update our website and she has been amazingly supportive and patient with us. We are thrilled with the end result of our website and would recommend Lucy to anyone who is considering either creating their first website or updating their original one.
